In brief

A public house in a red brick building dating to 1906, originally built as offices for Ansells, later the Holt Brewery. After the brewery closed down in the early 1970s, the building was converted into a pub called the Pot of Beer, but was later renamed to the Gosta Green.

Gosta Green - history

The red brick building at the corner of Holt Street and Woodcock Street was originally built as the offices of Ansells' No. 2 Brewery, Gosta Green in 1906.

This was the old Holt's brewery, it was rebuilt in 1965, but closed just seven years later.

The offices later became the Pot of Beer pub, but was renamed years later to the Gosta Green.

There is still a ghost sign on the side of the Gosta Green pub, from when it was part of the Holt Brewery.

The former brewery land behind it became derelict for a long time, until Birmingham City Council had offices built there during 2011-12.
